1776 is considered the birth of what we now know as the USA and it is a pivotal year in our nation’s history. This course is in 3 parts. In this series we will supplement 24 lectures by author and Great Courses Professor Adam Jortner of Auburn University. We will look at significant events that occurred in such places as China, West Africa, and Hawaii. As we celebrate our 250th anniversary of our independence from the British Empire we will look into the politics, philosophy, economics and science breakthroughs that occurred the same year across other continents.
