Data centers are rapidly multiplying across America and the globe. Proponents view them as essential engines of technological growth and prosperity, while critics warn of environmental hazards and strains on local communities. Using a variety of YouTube video clips as jump-off points, this short course explores both sides of the debate. What actually goes into a data center? Why are they so energy-intensive? And do they threaten our power grid, or drive the digital infrastructure of tomorrow? This course utilizes clips from several YouTube videos.
