In this course we explore the start of the First World War, the plans of the nations and the early battles. We will also delve into some of the long-term aspects that developed throughout the whole war. Based mainly on selected lectures from The Great Courses lecture series, World War I: The Great War, by Prof. Vejas Gabriel Liulevicius, Ph.D. We will also see bonus material from the internet that will flesh out our view of these important events. Also, there will be some tantalizing World War I what-if scenarios of how later history up to today might have gone differently.
