Florence exploded into greatness thanks to its booming textile trade and world‑shaping banks. Wealthy dynasties—especially the Medici—poured their fortunes into artists, architects, and thinkers, turning the city into a creative furnace. Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Botticelli reinvented art, while Brunelleschi’s soaring dome and the Palazzo Medici Riccardi redefined architecture. Fueled by money, genius, and fearless curiosity, Florence became the blazing heart of the Renaissance—and its influence still echoes through art and culture today.
