Local storyteller and retired librarian Diane Johnson has recently brought the story of Zora Neale Hurston to the Marion County Public Library system. We are pleased to have her bring the stories and music of this African American author, playwright, poet, anthropologist and folklorist to us. Born in Alabama, educated at Columbia University, Hurston’s best known novel is Their Eyes Were Watching God. It is set in a small 1920’s Florida town. Published in 1937, the 2005 film of the same name, will be shown on Friday, February 13 in Rm 107.
