A kooky title is taken from a Sherlock Holmes story, but don’t be fooled. Published in 2005 it has been adapted into a play and has won a host of literary awards including the best book of the year. As you would expect, it is a mystery, but with a main character with “abnormalities” who is attempting to solve a killing of a dog. In his endeavor the protagonist unearths truths about his family that perhaps are better left hidden.
