This is not a novel of plot/action, of mystery, of violence, but of a character, a British butler who has loyally served, for what seems a lifetime a Lord who has recently died. Written by Nobel Prize winner Ishiguro, the novel was awarded the Booker Prize in 1989. It is another story of loss, of what might have been and of what is truly important in life.
