Last spring, our course ended with the Anglo Saxons of medieval England enjoying a golden age under King Alfred the Great. That was about to change in profound ways! The Norman Conquest in 1066 under William the Conqueror was a seismic event with profound and lasting consequences, fundamentally reshaping the political, social, cultural, and linguistic landscape of England. The old landowners were displaced, a new aristocracy established, the system of government changed, and a feudal system created. Join your fellow Senior Learners as we discover how this happened. This course uses The Great Courses, The Story of Medieval England, by Professor Jennifer Paxton.
