This course introduces a series of courses based on lectures from the course Masters of War: History's Greatest Strategic Thinkers by Naval War College civilian Professor Andrew R. Wilson, Ph.D. The principles elucidated by these thinkers are being applied to other types of conflict, as in business and sports. This series will explore why it is possible to win most of the battles and still lose the war (Hannibal), or lose most of the battles and still win the war (George Washington). Will they show why it Is possible to win the war and lose the peace (World War I) or win the war and win the peace (US in World War II)? The class will start with an introductory lecture by Professor Wilson followed by class discussion.
