Today, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is pervasive and affects many aspects of our society, even though we may not be aware of many of its impacts on us individually. The future of AI is uncertain, although there are many scenarios that are either reassuring or just plain scary. This course is to provide an understanding of how AI works and its influence on health care, transportation (e.g., self-driving cars and trucks), education, energy, jobs, climate, finances, art, music, writing and other major ingredients of our lives. We will also look closely at some of the detrimental effects of AIs current implementations such as scams and factual misrepresentations. This is especially important as we approach the 2024 general election.
