Growing Older: Problems and Solutions

What are the most common problems that people face as they get older? How can we deal with them and extend healthy life spans of seniors? This course looks at practical ways and technologies which are currently available. We will begin with health issues such as cognitive decline, heart disease, vision problems, hearing losses and arthritis. Then we turn to behavioral issues such sociability and loneliness, personal sense of purpose, addictions and finances. A third topic will identify the difficulties of being a caretaker and how to relieve stress on those who care for others. Our final topic includes the designing and utilization of transportation, living quarters for the older and disabled people, and retirement communities.
