China Now and Then- from the beginning of the Republic to Xi Jinping. The Chinese boy emperor of the Qing dynasty falls, and the people choose to have a republic with Sun Yat-sen as president. In this exciting series we will look at the flaws of the republic that led to the takeover of communists under Mao Tse-tung in 1949 and what is happening in China today. We also look at Chinese culture, arts, and literature. The class will be presented in three parts. Students do not have to have taken previous parts to attend later parts.
