Jim DeLawter was a long serving employee of the Union Pacific Railroad. He is the current president of Ocala Model Railroaders, Inc. That organization maintains an extensive library about the railroads that served Ocala since shortly after its founding as well as a museum containing many railroad items. The evolution of the railroads is illustrated in a diorama model that he will bring to the classroom in support of his presentation. Their Holiday Trains exhibit at the Webber Center featuring the award winning HO and N Scale Traveling Layouts is always popular, especially with the kids, dads, moms and grandparents who wished they had a layout like that when they were young. This is one of many times they exhibit their layouts in various locations. In addition to the history of railroads in Ocala, Jim will also introduce you to the many activities at Ocala Model Railroaders, including occasionally running their HO and N-Scale model trains on very large layouts in their building.Railroaders, including occasionally running their N-gauge model trains on a very large layout in their building.
