Join us for a varied look at some of the key European people and events of the late 1800s that helped set the stage for the First World War. This course will focus on the unifications of Italy and Germany, and other factors that altered the balance of power. We will use such sources as the excellent YouTube channel The Great War by historian Indy Neidell, and The Long 19th Century: European History from 1789 to 1917, a Great Courses lectures series by Professor Robert Weiner Ph.D.
