In the past century, since the decline of the British Empire, the US has had the most influence on the world’s dollars, diplomacy, democracy, and destiny. This class will explore the past relationship of US to the world and its economic, diplomatic, and political influence and then the prospects of the US destiny or purpose in the future under the new Biden administration. This zoom class will focus one class on each facet: dollars, diplomacy, democracy, and destiny. The lectures will draw heavily upon the new book: Robert Zoellick, America in the World. Zoellick has served as Deputy Secretary of State, US Trade Representative, and President of the World Bank and is now a Senior Fellow at Harvard. Lectures will be presented live via Zoom with time reserved for discussion. Presentations will be emailed in advance and posted on coffeynotes.com.
