Coming in on the PBS Great American Read as the third most beloved book, Jane Austen's classic work is a novel of manners. She initially wrote it anonymously because of the social mores of her time. Writing a novel was not considered appropriate for a woman to do in the late 1700s. Did you know that reading this book was prescribed as an antidote to the horrors of both WWI and WWII? After reading this book, try one of the many movies that have been made based upon it. You are encouraged to do as much or as little research on the novels/authors as you wish and to bring what you learn to our class. The class size is limited to 12 to allow participation by all its members.

Please do not contact CF personnel about any Senior Learners, Inc. courses. Senior Learners, Inc. is independent of CF. We have the use of a classroom and support the CF Foundation with donations.
