Oliver Sacks wrote an autobiography of his youth: Uncle Tungsten. In it he tells about his large family of scientists and how he grew to love chemistry while growing up under the difficult circumstances of WWII London. Oliver Sacks grew up to be a famous neurobiologist who wrote many popular books, for example, The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat. He recently died. This course focuses only on his childhood-middle school years.
