This course will provide an update of the investigation of Black Holes. Professor Sean Carroll and his wife will summarize the recently identified paradoxes that are changing the way Black Holes are understood. The first image of a Black Hole is of the Supermassive Black Hole, M87* located at the center of the gargantuan elliptical galaxy Messier 87. It is 53 million light-years (318 quintillion miles) away.

Recent theoretical research has led to new understandings of the nature of Black Hole Event Horizons. Theoretical analysis of Black Holes might lead to unifying Quantum Mechanics and the spacetime of the General Theory of Relativity of Albert Einstein. In the next course Professor Caroll will introduce us to context for understanding Dark Matter and Dark Energy. Links to multiple video and printed online resources are provided for those who want to learn more about Black Holes and the physics associated with them.
