Joseph Campbell discovered a profound archetypal myth, the Monomyth, underlying the various legends of the world. Dressed in a thousand different masks and costumes and given a thousand different tasks to perform, the various heroes of the world’s myths all undergo similar metaphoric journeys or quests. Although no hero experiences the journey in exactly the same way, he found that the basic pattern or paradigm of the hero’s journey existed in all cultures. Note: legends and myths (stories) does not mean we are not referring to REAL PEOPLE.
