AIDS is the leading cause of death from infectious disease in sub-Saharan Africa, far outpacing malaria and Ebola. The sub-Saharan region accounts for about 70% of the global total of those suffering from this disease. When and where did this disease originate? How did it spread to the human population? Why was Africa hit so hard? This presentation covers the origin and spread of HIV/AIDS and the social, political, economic and medical conditions that make AIDS so prevalent there.
