This course focuses on England during the period from Edward the Confessor to the eventual Norman Conquest in 1066. Unfortunately, there is very little contemporary documentation of the conquest. So, even details, like where the final battle actually occurred, have been changed by recent archaeological evidence. This course is the tenth and last of a series of courses about how archaeology and genetics provide our best understanding of Ancient Britain Before the Middle Ages when there is little written history.
