The ocean is a source of wonder, delight, sustenance, economic benefit, and awe in the face of its overwhelming mystery and power. It dominates our climate and geology in ways that scientists are only now beginning to understand. This course deals with the physical aspects of the science of oceanography. A companion course deals with life in the ocean. Both courses are based in part on one of The Great Courses: Oceanography: Exploring Earth's Final Wilderness, by Professor Harold J. Tobin at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
